Amount numerous different appliances with conventional anchorage using for distalizing first upper molars, the largest values for distalization has Pendulum (6, 8). Caprioglio et al. Proved that Pendulum and distal screw appliances are equally effective in distalizing the maxillary molars (4.7 ± 2.0 in group treated Pendulum and 4.2 ± 1.4 mm in group treated distal screw appliances). They found no significant sagittal or vertical skeletal changes between the two groups during the distalization phase. In the Pendulum group anchorage loss were noted, the first premolar showed mesial movement and mesial tipping and the incisors were proclined. The distal screw appliances were effective in molar distalization with minimal distal tipping, also premolars distal movement and no anchorage loss were observed (9-12).
Doniec–Zawidzka et al. performed measurements on 3D models which were made before and after treatment with Carriere Motion Distalizer. The average of Distalization of canine cusp tip was 2,07 mm, distal surface of canine was 1,64 mm and mesiobuccal cusp tip of maxillary first molar was 2,35 mm. The canine cusp tip was most often extruded. The median of this displacement was 1,61 mm (13). The values are comparable with measurments using mini screw placed on the buccal side of maxillary alveolar. Lee et al. in out study used buccal miniscrew which was placed between first molar and second premolar and they obtained the following results: 2.0 mm of distalization and 0.1 mm intrusion of the first molar with 7.28 distal tipping and 0.3 mm of incisor extrusion (14). Buccal mini-screws can be used to distalize and achieve first class relationship (15).
