Protezy overdenture wsparte na resztkowym uzębieniu własnym pacjenta – wybrane przykłady zastosowań elementów retencyjnych na podstawie piśmiennictwa
TITLE: Overdentures supported on a patient’s residual dentition – selected examples of applications of retention elements based on the literature
STRESZCZENIE: Celem pracy jest przedstawienie wybranych elementów kotwiczących protezy OVD w oparciu o zachowane resztkowe uzębienie własne na podstawie piśmiennictwa. Zaprezentowano charakterystykę poszczególnych elementów precyzyjnych, wskazania do stosowania, wady i zalety tych rozwiązań. Podkreślono możliwość rozszerzenia i dalszego wykorzystania resztkowego uzębienia na wypadek częściowej utraty wsparcia protezy OVD z możliwością wykorzystania dodatkowych pomocniczych elementów retencyjnych pozwalających dostosować dotychczasową protezę do nowych warunków w jamie ustnej oraz celowość wykonywania tego rodzaju uzupełnień z uwagi na znaczną poprawę wydolności żucia, retencji, estetyki i komfortu życia pacjenta.

SUMMARY: The aim of this paper is to present, based on the review of the available literature, selected anchoring elements of the OVD dentures supported on a patient’s residual dentition.. The characteristics of particular precise elements, indications for their use as well as advantages and disadvantages of these solutions are elaborated. The paper highlights the possibility of extending and further use of residual dentition in the event of the partial loss of support of the OVD denture by using additional auxiliary retention elements enabling the adaptation of an existing denture to new conditions in the oral cavity as well as the advisability of such restorations due to a significant improvement in chewing efficiency, retention, aesthetics and comfort of a patient’s life.
