Streszczenie: W pracy opisano zmiany, jakie zachodzą w układzie stomatognatycznym na skutek braków zębowych skrzydłowych. Na podstawie przeglądu piśmiennictwa przedstawiono współczesną wiedzę dotyczącą braków skrzydłowych oraz ich skutków dla zdrowia pacjenta. Zaprezentowano krótką charakterystykę wybranych metod rekonstrukcji protetycznej. Przedstawiono wskazania i przeciwwskazania dla każdej z wybranych metod. Omówiono wady i zalety poszczególnych wariantów rehabilitacji protetycznej.

Summary: The paper describes changes that occur in the stomatognathic system due to the lack of posterior teeth. Based on the available literature on the topic, the authors have presented current knowledge on the issue related to the cases of missing teeth in the lateral segment and their effects on patient health. A brief description of selected prosthodontic reconstruction methods is included. Indications and contraindications for each of the selected methods are presented. The advantages and disadvantages of the particular solutions are discussed.
