Technical description of the apparatus
The first technical stage in preparation of the apparatus is disinfection of the received impression and assessment of whether the impression has been properly made and delivered. If rings have been placed in the impression, they should be coated on the inside with a thin layer of wax. Thanks to this, after casting the working model, it will be possible to release them safely. One has to make sure that the wax layer is very thin and even. It should correspond to the thickness of the cement layer. The working model for brazed appliances is cast from class IV synthetic gypsum. It should be mixed strictly according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Correct proportions and the procedure ensure the appropriate hardness of the model and the linear compliance of the orthodontic field with respect to the conditions in the patient’s oral cavity. After casting the model, we release the rings, cut the base and clean the model of artifacts. It is important that the base of the models is cut parallel to the occlusion plane and the vertical base of the model perpendicular to the line of the palatal suture.
